Boyles Ministry Newsletter

February 2007

Dear friends and family,

I can hardly believe that this newsletter marks the passing of 6 months in Belize.  It does not seem like we have been here that long!

We had visitors at the end of January!  Jeff’s mother, Janice, his cousin Jenny, and her daughter Maegan came to visit.  We had a great time.  Ann Marie had so much fun visiting with Maegan.  While they were here, we went to Punta Gorda for the southern region meeting and we were able to visit one of the Mayan ruins.  It is wonderful to get to share what we are doing here with family.

The southern region meeting for the Baptist Association of Belize was very successful.  There were 12 of the 15 churches represented at the meeting.  A committee was named for the Rodney M. Gordon Christian Development Center!  Praise God for what he is doing!  This property will begin with the building of the children’s home.  We are encouraged by this announcement and pray that the people named will be committed and work to make this dream a reality.  Chairman, Chester Ritchie; Vice-Chairman, John Glasgow; and Secretary, Jeff Boyles are all members of the committee.  Minutes and pictures are posted on the website.

As I mentioned last month, we have several churches in the region that are doing construction this year.  It is exciting to see the churches growing.  Progress has been made at each of the churches during the last month.  Light of the Valley is now working on the walls to their new addition.  The plastering of San Juan is almost finished and the bathrooms are underway.  Mount Zion has had two work days to work on the beams for their new roof.  Hopefully, the money will be raised for the tin soon. See additional pictures in the Photo Gallery.

Our friends and fellow missionaries, John and Darlene Glasgow have been here for a little more than two years.  John pastors Silk Grass Baptist Church and they both volunteer at the high school in Independence.  Their home church, Riverside Baptist Church in Helena, Alabama was the first team to work in the region this year.  J.J. Stanbridge and Howard Brooks brought a team of twenty men and two women to work in Silk Grass.  The men primarily did construction on the new roof of the church while the ladies had VBS for the children in the village.  The church is a very large octagon-shaped building which made the roof challenging.  They did a wonderful job and were able to finish the roof in just five days.  Jeff transported tools and equipment back and forth each day in his truck and assisted with running errands to buy supplies in Dangriga and Belmopan.  I put together Valentines for all the team on the 14th and Ann Marie entertained the ladies.  The church had their first service in the new building Saturday night before the team left on Sunday.  It is amazing to watch God work through people!  If you would like to read more about the Glasgow’s ministry, their website is www.glasgowmissions.com.

I hope you are all doing well.  We are looking forward to coming home in April and getting to see everyone.

In Christ,
