Boyles Ministry Newsletter

June 2007

Dear friends and family,

June has been our busiest month so far!  We have had five teams back-to-back.  The month went by very quickly!

The first team to arrive was the Senior Trip from several churches in the Birmingham area.  The men worked on getting the bathrooms finished at Silk Grass while the ladies visited homes to give away clothes.  The ladies also had a flip-flop ministry.  They collected flip-flops and brought them down to pass out to the children.   In addition to working hard, they had a fun filled trip.

Gary Williams’ team was the next to arrive.  We were thrilled to see the team.  This is the team Jeff and I have traveled to Belize with in the past.  They prayer walked and had VBS in Silver Creek and San Pedro Columbia during the day.   At night, they had services at San Juan, Maya Mopan, Santa Rosa, and San Roman.  The night services included singing, puppets, skits, and preaching.

Judy Barnett’s team from Nashville arrived June 8th.  They did door-to-door visitation and VBS in Trio.  At Mt. Zion, they held adult classes, VBS, and had a sports camp.  They also had classes at San Roman for adults, youth, and children.  The adult classes included scripture memorization and a spiritual gift survey.  The youth were taught interpretive dance.  The team provided transportation for the seven closest churches for the classes.  This was a big success.

The national crusade took place the following week.  International Commission brought enough team members to place someone in every church in the Baptist Association.  The team members were here to teach church members how to witness in their community.  This was a huge effort and took over two years to plan.  Each church was responsible for getting together lists of people to visit during the week.  They were to pray for the people on their list over the last several months and invite them to functions at the church.  At the end of the week, there was a Victory Rally.  All of the churches were to bring new Christians to the rally to celebrate.  There was an amazing turnout.  Over 500 were in attendance.  It was an amazing week.

Packed House!

Blue Springs FWB Church from Phil Campbell, Alabama sponsored our final team for the month.  This team was very dear to our hearts for many reasons.  Many members of the team are also members of Jeff’s family and from one of our sponsoring churches, Waldrop FWB Church.   None of them had ever been on a mission trip before.  We are amazed at the work they put in this week.  They did construction prayer walked in a nearby village (Garage), and held night services in San Juan.

The group was able to raise enough money to fund the building of a preschool in San Juan right across the street from our house.  They worked on the preschool while they were here and were able to build the floor and almost finish the walls.  They worked really hard!  The preschool will open September 3rd of this year.  The village is very excited about this project.  This will provide education for the children of the village at a much earlier age.  They will be exposed to the English alphabet, numbers, and other vocabulary.  It will greatly enhance their ability to learn in the school system.  The government will provide two teachers and pay their salary.  We will continue to help them throughout the first school year to assure they have the supplies needed.  Thank you, Blue Springs Team!
