Boyles Ministry Newsletter

March 2008

Dear friends and family,

Do you know the song “All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful the Lord God made them all…”?  This is the perfect song for spring time.  If you have the opportunity, listen to this song and remind yourself that we serve an amazing God!  He created all things.  Remember to praise Him this month for all the wonderful things He as done for you.

March proved to be a very busy month for us in Belize.  We had the opportunity to visit with Brother Gary Williams and his wife, Linda.  It was a joy to spend time with them.  We had good fellowship and they were very encouraging.

Jeff’s birthday was March 11th.  Our friends here in San Juan woke us up at 4am singing and throwing rocks on the roof!  It scared me to death, but we had a good laugh.  They all hugged Jeff and told him “Feliz cumpleaños!” and “Dios te bendiga!” (Happy Birthday and God Bless You).  We truly love the people here in our village.

Judy and Rick Barnette’s team from ClearView Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee were here March 15th-21st.  They had a very involved ministry.  Part of the team worked on the dining hall at the new camp grounds.  $15,000US was raised for this project.  The foundation was poured before they got here so they got to work on the walls immediately.  They were able to finish the walls and install the doors in just 3 ½ work days!   There is a local group working on the roof now.  The building is wood siding and will have a bay leaf (“thatch”) roof.

This team also shipped down about 2,000 children’s books to be passed out while they were here.  Because it was Easter break, the children did not have school.  Most of the children came to school anyway for classes with the team.  At the end of the day they received a book to take home.  The team also had services and VBS each night at the San Juan Baptist Church, a men’s night, and a fellowship for the pastor’s and their wives.  Wow!  What a busy week.  We will enjoy seeing the fruits of their labor over the next several months.

We were not here for Easter last year so it was interesting to see how Belizeans celebrate Easter.  Most stores are closed down for several days for the holiday.  EVERYBODY went to a river or to the beach for the day on Friday or Saturday.  And to our surprise there were very few people in church on Sunday.  Of course, at home Easter is when most people actually do go to church!  We had an Easter egg hunt at church with the children in my class.  We also used the Resurrection Eggs to talk about the real meaning of Easter and Christ dying for our sins.  Ann Marie enjoyed hunting eggs with her friends.
