May 2007
Dear friends and family,
We celebrated Ann Marie’s third birthday the 9th of May. She had presents and a
cake. Everything was decorated with pink
and white polka dots. She is very proud
to be 3!

National Youth Day was May 21st at Pomona’s Baptist Church. Youth groups representing the
different churches traveled to Pomona for worship, a time for sharing, and a volleyball
competition. The southern region was
well represented and youth had a wonderful time. Jeff took 17 youth from San Juan in his truck!
You know the saying, “they were packed in like sardines!” The group shared two songs and a scripture
reading in Spanish and English. One of
the songs was a dramatic interpretation to “Daily Bread.” The second was a human video of “There’s
Somebody Out There.” They did a
wonderful job! They may need to practice
a little more before the next volleyball competition.

I have seen a noticeable
improvement in the primary children in my reading class. I have been excited to see such a difference
in their reading skills the last few weeks.
One little girl in particular has started volunteering to read in class
and is able to answer the reading comprehension questions. She was having the most trouble when we
started a few months ago. The younger
class is doing well also. They now all
know their ABC’s and we are working on phonics and 3-4 letter words. The ladies’ English class has requested to
learn some praise and worship songs.
They are working on “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” and “Open the Eyes
of My Heart Lord.”
This is very challenging for me because I do not have the best singing
voice, but the ladies are eager to learn and we are having fun. When we returned from our visit to Alabama, I started English lessons with the doctor in the
village. Her lessons are much more
advanced than the other ladies. She
already knew a lot of the language before we started. I am enjoying my time with her very much.

It is the end of the school
year for Jeff. His Religious Studies class
will have their final exam on Friday.
The class has been an overview of the Old Testament. At the beginning of the year, Jeff asked the
class “Who is God?” He asked them the
same question last week. Their answers
were very different. Most of them seem to have a clear understanding of who God is. That is why we are here. We want to share the knowledge of God and the
love of Jesus Christ. Jeff has also been
busy with the construction teams. He and
Chester have been working hard to prepare the churches
before a team gets here and then he works along side the team while they are
here. They have been working hard at
Silk Grass and Mt. Zion to build bathrooms.
There is a team here this week from Alabama that hopes to finish the bathrooms at Silk
Grass.

Thank you for your continued
support! You have all been amazing! Please remember to pray for our ministries in
Belize.
We love you all!
In Christ,
Jeff, Tiffany, and Ann Marie
